I've lived in tornado territory in Michigan, growing up, earthquake territory for 30 years as an adult raising my own 2 sons and the last 5 years in N. Carolina hurricane territory. I have always felt informed and educated with easily accessible and publicized information and I've felt safer during events as a result if be I ng informed and prepared. This n uhas not been the case here in NC. I feel totally isolated and on my own. I've done a lot of research as rch and made phone calls for 5 years to get some Mos t basic assistance an d have tried d to find information on "prevention . Or preparatory and preparedness measures." I have yet to have found any assistance. Not even a local experienced person to help me identify the things in my house and yard that I could do to make the hurricane a little less threatening. MY FIRST YEAR HERE WAS 2018 AND I BELIEVE IT WAS Martha that cremated a lot of n.c. I think it was matthew before that and last I looked both are still what I see as "a running faucet" of money revenue being sent from the federal government. The Feds pay their bills. I've watched them in action in several cities and states whether that is medicaid payment to a a private physician or USDA Food dollars to counties in need. So it doesn't make any sense why we citizens cannot find any information or assistance. I may need something like a flyer hand out wi t h a check list. Even t h at would h we lo me remember the things I should do when we have a week n or 10 days notice of a coming hurricane. We didn't have notice of earth quakes and very little we notice of tornadoes. And I still felt confident that I knew what to do and my government had provided all necessary outreach .l One thing that puzzles me. When I've called the one government contractor who administers the hurricane fun d s they have asked me which hurricane am i effected by, and my answer is :"all of them" Nobody can help with that.

There is a built in dilemma in this current hurricane funding program. I'm not sure how people prove which hurricane did what damage from 2018. It's coming up on 6 years and we've had several more and now we have finding for named storms, too. From what I've seen this is true. I also saw a national television news spot that uinte t views an old man who had recently lost his wife while waiting 4 and a half years in temporary housing waiting for yheir home to be repaired. The family reported that when mom died she just said please get dad back in our house. He died soon after that.

Government entities, especially those that deal with emergency response and emergency preparedness, have been doing a surprisingly decent job of adopting social media. But this video has the sound quality of a 3rd hand VHS tape from 1986. It's "big, dumb Government" bad. You don't have to make these videos fancy. Just set, then always meet, a minimum standard of quality.
